Welcome to 2006!

Yep, that's right, it's January 2006 over in China. That's the timeframe that the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) is working on right now. Families whose dossiers were logged in during January 2006 are being referred their new children. Specifically, families registered as of January 4th, 2006 found out about their children during the first week of March 2008! Then, last month April 2008, families that were registered as of January 9th, 2006 finally got their referrals after a record setting 27 month wait. Then, on May 2nd, 2008, all families registered up to and including January 12, 2006 have received word and pictures of their new child. See how each month just inches along?

Unfortunately, word from China says the wait will continue to lengthen. Much speculation is being brought up about how the Summer Olympics in Beijing will affect the timeframes and travel plans of those of us waiting and waiting for our children!

Rumors tell us that the end of January 2006 and February 2006 have a smaller than average number of families registered and all are hoping for a 2008 referral, if not an early 2009 referral. It all seems bizarre and unfathomable to me but I have no choice but to keep the faith and pray for Chelsee to be safe and warm while we wait, wait, wait!
