Julee and Julie

There has been a renewed interest in the American Girl dolls in our household! Julee, our now 12 year old, has been in love with the American Girls since she was about 5 years old. But as with most girls, other things came along that pushed "doll" priority to a new low. Namely, puberty! But I won't go into that for fear of painful jabs and eye rolling!

But, last summer, it was announced that a new American Girl would be debuted in the fall of 2007. And here start the unusual coincidences: Her name will be Julie! (yes, it is spelled wrong according to Julee). Julie's best friend is a Chinese-American girl named Ivy. Julie's dad is from Minnesota and works for an airline. Julie's favorite number is 22. Julie loves sports and math. Then, the books that are written about Julie include "Julie Saves the Eagles" which is illustrated by Robert Hunt. do-do-do-do...do-do-do-do!

At first, we really did not think that my dad would be communicating to us through the American Girl Collection but after more of the outrageous coincidences continued to come in, my mom thought it must be true! So, we just kinda shake our heads and go with it.

We really had to have this new doll and Julee really felt it was made for her even though we weren't allowed to discuss her doll fever with anyone in the middle school! Luckily, my niece and fairy Goddaughter, Lydia (age 8) is the perfect age for American Girls so Julee just pretends to be interested and play with them "for Lydia's sake!" Julee and Lydia received lots of new AG dolls and accessories for Christmas. The best present was that Tricia and I took them both to Atlanta for a 3 day, 2 night trip to visit the American Girl Boutique and Bistro over the Christmas break. What a wonderful trip we had. Just us girls time!
