Happy Chinese New Year! Xin Nian Kuai Le!

What a wonderful holiday this is....it's a time for new beginnings, new haircuts, new clothes, sweeping out all the old dirt from your floors, yummy food and gathering with family!

Last year, we sent Chelsee a care package with a new outfit, some candies, a book, some hair bows, pictures of her soon-to-be new family, and a letter telling her how happy we are to finally meet her!

What a difference a year makes! This year, we have our sweet Chelsee with us and were able to celebrate Chinese New Year with her!!! We attended a fantastic Chinese New Year party with our wonderful Families with Children from China (FCC) group. All the children were dressed beautifully in their Chinese silk dresses and outfits. We had a group photo taken and I think there were 20 children in it! We are soo fortunate to have such a caring, relaxed and happy group of families to share these special times with.

I could tell that Chelsee knew the day was special. She likes to say Happy Chinese New Year in Chinese because she can! Xin Nian Kuai Le! She still can say lots of words in Chinese but she really doesn't know it's Chinese. She prefers to speak Spanish, she says!!! Haha, whatever! She has an amazing vocabulary ~ she shocks me every singe day with some new word used appropriately! "As a matter of fact, mom, the first thing I need to do this morning is ask you what day is it?" "Is it Tuesday, after Monday?" "And because I did not go to school yesterday as usual, do I still go to dance class today?" "Or do I have to wait until next week?" Me: "Uh, what? Yes, that is exactly right and how did you know how to say 'As a matter of fact' or 'as usual'?"
