We were lucky enough to have Albee in town for one of our monthly gatherings of our local Families with Children from China group. It was the first time he has had a chance to meet the families who have traveled our road before us!
We met at an Art Cafe where the kids paint ceramics and the parents stand in awe of their families and the bond we all share. When you see 8 or 9 little girls with smiles as big as the sun, you can't help but smile yourself. In fact, it makes you nearly lose it, right Al???
What a wonderful luck of the draw to have found such a great group of people dedicated to the well being of our special families. It cements the idea of forever families, no matter how your family is made. And what I love most is watching Julee with the little girls.....she is just aching to have her own little sister to love!
We were introduced to a local resident who is willing to teach Chinese to the girls - and to the siblings and parents. I love the idea of keeping their native language alive - as long as I am not the one having to learn it and teach it!!! Maybe Chelsee will already speak Chinese, maybe not, but I hope she will be able to learn at least some Chinese. It might be like the piano lessons kids dread while they are taking them but forever thankful for them as adults. Or it might be the only place Chelsee can comfortably communicate for a while. We shall see.
Thank you to our local Hilton Head/Bluffton FCC for making our wait bearable. You give us hope that our dream will come true soon.
